Greetings from the edge,

A day late..? Yes, a dollar short..? Also yes. However; The weather persists, very hot. You know it’s hot when you go to pee and pass steam.

I have been plugging away at my first novella, The Echo Man, chiselling away a word at a time. I remember reading that Michelangelo reportedly said, of his masterwork  ‘David’, that he saw the angel in the marble and carved until he set him free. And it got me thinking, I can see a story in a blank page before me, all I am doing is throwing words at the page until everyone can see it.

While I’m working on the story, I’ll still be posting here and putting articles together in the meantime.

Speaking of, I had to put a stop to my idea for a webcomic retelling the Star Wars saga, as though it were a TTRPG. Turns out, in my research, that a comic called ‘Darths and Droids’ got there before I did and has done an excellent job of it. Frankly, I don’t want to pour my heart and soul into something that niche, only for it to be an also-ran before it even has a readership.

So on the one hand, I have lost an idea, on the other hand, I have found a new comic to enjoy with a heck of a back catalogue.

So I’m thinking maybe something about horror films retold as Call of Cthulhu games, something. The kernel of the idea has legs, I think, but I just need to think about it from another perspective.

I heard back about the library job, and it looks like I’m going to have a lot more time to work on my writing and site, as I was not invited to the interview stage. It’s fine, I’m sure that god, the Universe, The Force, SpongeBob, or whatever has something else planned for me.

I had planned to show the results of my miniature painting, and as it turns out, photographing miniatures once they have been painted is every bit as much of a skill as painting them in the first place. So, my take on Jaghatai Khan’s sons will have to wait. But I will say this, painting white armour is a pain in the ass.

That’s about it for now, since it looks like the heat is not going to abate, I’m just going to have to embrace my inner lizard and learn new ways to work.

See you in the margins,
