Greetings from the edge,

Friends, the curse has struck again. While doing a preliminary skim of Curse of Strahd, my highlighter snapped clean in half. The damned vampire has been claiming adventurers since the late ’70s, and now he’s moved on to my stationery.

On the brighter side, I managed to sort out the Tarokka deck situation with the seller on eBay, a genuinely solid vendor. We cancelled the erroneous order, and I placed a replacement yesterday, so with a bit of luck, it should be with me soon.

It did get me thinking about the Dags, a travelling people in my setting, Lore. I wrote quite a bit about them and even picked up a Deck of Many Things prop for their fortune-tellers. I’m tempted to reintroduce them into the Sunday game. Perhaps the party encounters one on the road and has their fortunes read. Always a dangerous pastime.

I’ve also been thinking more broadly about the setting itself. I might start a regular or semi-regular feature for Crying is a Free Action focused on worldbuilding. It would be a good way to get Lore out into the world, and, if nothing else, it would force me to finally finish Valtheraine.

It looks like I’m going to miss my deadline for the Found Footage Films article, but as Douglas Adams once said, “I love deadlines. I love the whooshing noise they make as they go by.”

In the meantime, I’m brainstorming new article ideas and continuing to build out all three branches of the site. Once I hit the magic number of ten articles per section, I should have a clearer sense of what’s working and what isn’t.

I’ve also been knee-deep in SEO work. It’s dull as ditchwater, but once it’s set up properly, it’ll just become part of the process.

See you in the margins,
