Greetings from the edge,
So, after having my noggin prodded, poked, scanned, and analysed by the very best in the business, the good news is that there isn’t a huge amount to worry about. I have a new mass growing in the orbit of where my right eye would be, if I still had it, but I have neurofibromatosis, and it’s been more or less dormant for over 20 years now, so we will do the biopsy dance, and if the surgery team think having it hacked out would be beneficial, then we will just go ahead and do that.
I have been very busy over at RobTheComputerGuy.co.uk. The last ten days or so have been pretty breakneck compared to previous weeks, and I’m starting to think about doing another leaflet drop, focusing on the Corringham area and offering a £30 PC health check and tune-up. The idea is that if I can get in the door before a problem becomes too serious, it could save clients a lot of heartache and expense.
I did a test run, printed about 50 leaflets, and had Luke deliver them to the immediate local area. I may need to go a little bigger…
I’ve entered into a one-month trial with an SEO company that has promised they can finagle me to the top of local Bing searches. It cost £120, so we will see whether they can work their dark digital sorcery or whether I have just bought some particularly sophisticated snake oil.
Writing-wise, I have a new article in the pipeline and I’m just sourcing some images for it, but it should go live early next week. It’s essentially about how to turn lore into pressure points and make it usable for TTRPGs.
After that, I’m currently researching a comparison between the book and film versions of The Exorcist. It also means I get to rewatch one of the best horror films of the 1970s, which can only be a good thing!
I have finished False Gods, the second book in the Horus Heresy series, and I have to say… homeboy sure got to heresy quick!
He gets jacked up on some backwater alien world, has a bad dream/vision quest while almost dying and, just like that, he is like, ‘I’m gonna kill the Emperor.’
Now, don’t get me wrong, the closest thing the book has to a likeable character is a writer with a massive superiority complex who is as personable as a Dickens aristocrat, but the book itself was enjoyable. Despite the fact that the 40k universe seems to be comprised entirely of arseholes, I enjoyed the time I spent with them.
Almost finished The Mist by Stephen King. I have said it before, and I will say it again: Mr King is at his very best when he is forced to keep it nice and short.
See you in the margins,
